This was a renovation to a 1650 SF condominium on Hayden Island in Portland, Oregon. I was originally contacted by the clients while they were still living in the Dallas, Texas area. Their plan was to relocate to Portland in a year and had purchased this Condo with the thought of remodeling it over this period prior to their arrival.
I was sent some preliminary drawings, that a friend had help them with, and after making some comments about what I thought would make for a good layout, they agreed I would be a good fit to help them to complete their project.
I met with them on an early visit they made to Portland, and we discussed the particulars of their project and some of the specific ‘Wants’ and ‘Desires’ they both had for their new home. Over the next several weeks, together, we worked through possibilities and options and quickly arrived at a design that both worked for their needs and developed an aesthetic that satisfied their sense of what they had hoped to achieve in an effort to restart a life in the Northwest.
We met with a few builders and eventually settled on a builder, Terry Arnold, who also happened to be the individual who provided maintenance support for the Condominium complex. His prior knowledge to the buildings workings and structure proved invaluable, and along with a couple of sub contractors I was able to introduce to him, his team performed marvelously and was greatly appreciated.
